  1. Okay, I'll bite ~ What on earth was the raft for? That's a lot of wood! It looks like a floating dock and slip.

  2. Before logging trucks, the only way to get huge volumes of wood to distant markets was by ship. The raft was about 11,000 logs in total and it was floated successfully to New York. Legend has it that this wood was used to build much of the New York dock system in that city.
