Your life,
To those who surround you,
Has been like a rose
Whose blossoms bloomed and
Grew so gently,
And revealed a hidden splendor.

A fragrant scent of times long past;
The modern age has loomed at last,
Far more extreme
Than that charmed age
Of Kings and Queens - Victoria!

Wars have changed the world
and men.
You too, like them,
Have lost some petals
To the winds and weeds,
And the cutting, stinging nettles.

Lost euphoria,
Despite your thorns,
In a tangled bed of weeds.
