Peregrine in a Vineyard

A bolt of lightening falls from the dark clouds.

                                   Below sandpipers fly over vast open mudflats,

With no idea that…
A falcon with one foot around a throat,
Without a blink, buries the hallux,
Rips off the skull cap
Sucks out all the sentient, protein rich brains.
Stropping his beak.

This is the drama,
All in the twinkling of an eye.
